Roland AtelierLandmark Organ Sound, Performance, and Luxury
by Lynda Smith
Wow! That is the best way to sum up a glorious day of great music at the Semi-Finals of the Roland Atelier Organ Fest.
We jetted off to Orlando the week of Feb 23rd to prepare for our honored guests — the local Organ Fest semi-finalists. We set up the room, turned on the lights, dusted off the instruments and went full blast with rehearsals, practice time and listening to great organ music.
Thirty five semi-finalists participated in this event. At first glance the program seemed long, but no one complained. Each participant made the AT-900 or AT-800 a true artist’s workshop! Each piece was arranged beautifully and performed equally as well. The variety of music kept everyone’s interest — right down to a new rendition of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy — with a very original and contemporary twist that got us dancing in our seats.
The judges had a very difficult task. By the end of the afternoon, eleven finalists were selected to fly to Los Angeles and share their music at the National Finals on March 27th.
It is hard to measure the excitement of the day, but the most striking outcome was the joy of sharing music with friends. All involved say they are already looking forward to next seasons Organ Fests at their local dealer’s store.
We invite everyone to join in on the fun. Watch for details on the rolandatelier.com web site!
